Ski Resorts in South America
For a ski holiday with a more exotic flavour, there are plenty of places to ski in South America – mainly in mountainous Chile!
The ski resorts with the best facilities in the Central Zone include Portillo, La Parva, El Colorado/Farellones, Valle Nevado, and Termas de Chillán.
All these ski resorts maintain their slopes (ski runs), offer ski classes and ski rental equipment. Portillo, Valle Nevado and El Colorado have artificial snow-maker machines.
Brilliant for beginners
Heading south in Chile, there are mid-quality ski resorts like Chapa Verde, Pucón and Antillanca, with fewer ski-lifts and services than the Central Zone Resorts. Lagunillas, Antuco, Lonquimay, Llaima, El Fraile and Cerro Mirador Resorts have fewer infrastructure and ski-lifts. Their slopes (ski runs) are best suited to rookies, but experts can always find a great spot to practise off-the-runs skiing.
