Hands up if you’ve recently had, or are about to have one of those birthdays? You know. The ones that end in a zero. Now I don’t have anything against zeros per se. But if you’re anything like me, they’re bound to get you thinking: What have I done with my life? Where did all the years go? What happened to that skinny young person I used to be? On a more positive note, it is time to celebrate you – so let’s talk about birthday trips.
Sadly, I can’t help you with the questions about Life, the Universe and Everything, but I can help you to make your next milestone birthday (or any other important celebration), something that not only you, but your family and friends will remember for a long time.
Ski holidays celebrating a milestone of any kind, have gained in popularity recently. Whether the destination is within Australia or abroad, memories of a lifetime are formed on snow holidays. And they are magical.
Snowscene has organised trips for 40th and 50th birthdays right through to 70th and even 80th celebrations. On these trips, multiple families may travel together. Anyone who wishes, can go skiing but everyone gets to celebrate the special birthday in a unique part of the world.
Currently we have a group who are travelling to Niseko for a 40th birthday. The grandparents are travelling with the family and they are looking forward to spending time with their grandchildren whilst the parents are on the slopes. Of course there is no reason why grandparents can’t go out skiing too if that is something they would like to do.
The key to the success of these trips, as it is for so many things in life, is timing. Adequate time is essential to allow for booking and planning so that full advantage can be taken of the best early bird packages and any specials that Snowscene has to offer. If you’ve ever tried to organise a family event, even it involves a small numbers of people, you will know how hard it is to find times and venues that suit everyone. Planning a ski trip of this kind requires attention to many details – lots of things can be overlooked.
It does sound a bit daunting doesn’t it? Where do you find the time and how do you access the information you’re going to need to make all of these decisions? That’s where Snowscene comes in. We have access to group airfares with preferred partners like Qantas, Air New Zealand and Virgin. Is there someone who deserves to travel business? Grandparents perhaps?
We can also find accommodation to cater for groups of all sizes and budgets and we’ve partnered with companies who can help organise birthday, anniversary, welcome or cocktail parties and a huge range of activities in any holiday location. These extras can be included in the package price. Just imagine, everything from flights and accommodation to ski lessons and lift passes, food, drinks and kids club to name a few, all taken care of and paid for up front. No awkward moments trying to decide who pays for what.
As an example, a destination such as Aspen Snowmass would be ideal for a 50th birthday party. There are high-end restaurants through to a more casual environment for apre ski. What better way to enjoy yourself after a day on the slopes? With plenty of non-skiing activities like dog-sledding, cabin rides to private huts, ghost tours with the Aspen Historical Society or snow mobiling, every member of the group is guaranteed a great time. And that’s just one destination. There are so many to choose from.
So, give some thought to the next milestone celebration coming up. You might want to surprise your partner with a ski trip, or perhaps you’d like to share your special celebration with skiing friends or with friends who have never seen the snow. With Snowscene’s help, you can all experience the white magic of a snow holiday.
Ideally, the best time to start planning such a big trip is 12 months ahead but the good news is that it’s not too late for the 2019/20 season. We have early bird packages currently still on offer for the North American ski season for Whistler, Aspen, and Vale and also in Japan.
If you want to be super-organised, now is the perfect the time to start planning your 2020/21 ski season. By pre-registering your interest with Snowscene for early birds and the exclusive wait list, you will get your preferred resort and travel with your preferred airline.
