Ikigai Lodge holds prime position in Myoko Kogen, right across from the Akakura Kanko lift station and an easy walk to the bars & restaurants of Akakura Onsen village. The Myoko Kogen ski resort offers the ideal holiday for lovers of powder snow, boasting an average of 13 metres of snowfall in the season… in fact Myoko has claimed the snow crown for the over 17 metres of snowfall on multiple seasons! The Myoko area is made up of several ski resorts, linked together by shuttle bus. Akakura Kanko, Akakura Onsen, Ikenotaira Onsen, Suginohara and Seki Onsen are a few of the resorts you will get to ride. It is also handy for day trips to the neighbouring ski resorts of Tangram Circus/Madarao Mountain & Lotte Arai.
Ikigai is a bed and breakfast lodge with 8 rooms. Accommodations choices include the very beautiful Japanese style Grand Tatami Suite for up to 8 persons; plus a mix of studios and family suites that offer flexible bedding to support travellers of all kinds. Some rooms feature private balconies, additional lounge space, and ensuite bathrooms. Regardless of your choice in accommodation, your stay at Ikigai Lodge will be a memorable one.
Myoko Kogen is located one hour north of Nagano and from Tokyo we recommend catching the Nagano Shinkansen and then the Kita-Shinano train line to Myoko Kogen Station. The Ikigai Lodge staff will then pick you up and bring you to Ikigai, making the transition easy and convenient. Best of all, from Tokyo, the trip takes a little bit under two hours!
If you are looking for a great place to enjoy Japanese snow, culture and an excellent time away, Myoko Kogen ticks all the boxes. A great mountain, English-speaking ski schools, fantastic onsens, traditional restaurants, small bars and a flourishing nightlife means there is something for everyone at Myoko Kogen.
