Memoir by Narelle
Some of you know that China holds a special place in my heart. My family lived in China for several years, where we learnt to speak Mandarin, and we’ve had the opportunity to ski at Beidahu ourselves. That’s why we’re so excited to host this unique ski experience at Club Med Beidahu and share one of our favourite destinations with you.
One of the biggest advantages of travelling with us is the support you’ll receive from the moment the trip begins. Being Mandarin speaking and knowing China well, we’ll be there to help navigate everything from the departure in Brisbane to airport transfers, check-in, and any day-to-day questions while at the resort. For those who haven’t travelled to China before, this can make the entire experience feel easy and stress-free.
For the past two winters, our family has enjoyed skiing at Club Med in Japan. We absolutely love the Club Med experience and wanted to revisit a destination that offers the same high standard of skiing, accommodation, dining, and service, while providing outstanding value for families and groups. Club Med’s resorts in China consistently deliver a premium all-inclusive experience at a very attractive price point, making them a fantastic alternative for those looking to maximise their ski holiday budget. One of the biggest surprises is the value on offer, with peak-season skiing in China often costing less than a spring ski holiday in Japan, making it an appealing option for families seeking the best balance of quality and affordability.
What impressed us most about Club Med Beidahu is that it offers the same welcoming atmosphere and international standard that Club Med is known for worldwide. The food is fantastic, the facilities are excellent, and the international team of G.O.s creates a fun and inclusive environment. In fact, one of our favourite ski instructors we’ve ever had at Club Med was from Canberra, Australia and a great reminder that Club Med attracts talented staff from all over the world.
Skiers who have visited Japan will notice some differences. Beidahu generally doesn’t receive the famous deep powder that Japan is known for, but it offers excellent grooming, varied terrain, and fantastic skiing conditions. The weather is typically colder, creating beautiful snowy landscapes and reliable conditions throughout the season.
Another reason we’re excited about this trip is that the skiing can be combined with some of China’s most incredible destinations. Before or after your Club Med stay, there are countless opportunities to explore. You could visit Harbin and experience the world-famous Harbin International Ice and Snow Sculpture Festival, walk along the Great Wall of China and explore Beijing’s rich history, discover the Terracotta Army in Xi’an, or enjoy the shopping, dining, and modern energy of Shanghai. These pre- and post-ski experiences can be seamlessly added to your itinerary, and having arranged these extensions for previous clients, I can help create a customised journey that combines an exceptional ski holiday with some of China’s most iconic attractions.
For us, this trip is about much more than skiing. It’s an opportunity to experience a fascinating country, enjoy a world-class Club Med resort, and travel with hosts who know the destination well and are passionate about sharing it with others. We can’t wait to experience Club Med Beidahu together.
