School Groups – Queenstown

Queenstown located on New Zealand’s South Island on the shores of Lake Wakatipu is surrounded by majestic mountains and is a gateway to world class skiing and snowboarding plus a host of adrenaline infused adventure activities.  It is easy to see why school groups keep returning to Queenstown with not one, but three ski resorts, Coronet Peak, The Remarkables and Cardrona Alpine Resort all easily accessible within 30 to 60 minute’s by coach.  Each ski resort is unique with terrain and facilities suitable for skiers and boarders of all levels of ability and school groups can mix it up and try all three resorts.

Schools groups can select from a wide range of accommodation options including cosy lodges and apartments right through to 5 star hotels most within walking distance to downtown Queenstown.  Meal packages including breakfast and dinner are popular and if you would like to venture out and try some of the local restaurants we can definitely assist you with this. We recommend that you include an off-snow day to explore some of the many cultural and adrenaline infused activities in and around Queenstown. CORONET PEAK

Coronet Peak is the closest ski resort to Queenstown, located only 16 kms away and boasts the most stunning scenery with views right across Lake Wakatipu, Lake Hayes, and The Remarkables.  With some spectacular roller coaster terrain this is one of New Zealand’s favourite ski destinations.  Coronet Peak caters for all levels of skier and border ability . Advanced skiers and riders love the steeper slopes, moguls and terrain parks.  First timers on snow, have a dedicated beginner area where they can build confidence in a fun and safe environment as they develop their new skills, including riding the beginner ski lifts which include two surface conveyor lifts, a beginner handle tow and double chairlift. The natural snow falls are complimented with energy efficient state of the art snow making machines.  Refuelling on the mountain is easy with a number of options including a café and a restaurant in the Coronet Peak Base Building, maybe a quick sandwich on the Subway heated outdoor deck or warm up with a gourmet pizza beside the fire at Heidi’s Hut. So many choices!

THE REMARKABLES

The Remarkables ski field, as the name suggests is located within the Remarkables mountain range, around 60 minutes by coach from downtown Queenstown.  Spread across 385 hectares of skiable terrain The Remarkables ski resort provides options for everyone from first timers to advanced skiers and snowboarders. A massive learner’s area with its perfect pitch and three surface conveyor lifts dedicated to the beginners will have them confidently making their first turns in no time. Group lessons will see everyone continue to progress throughout the week in a fun and safe environment. This resort also boasts 7 terrain parks known as Remarks Parks with fabulous facilities designed for those new to shredding right through to the aspiring professional.  For lunch, snacks or a yummy hot chocolate on the mountain, options include the cafe and restaurant plus Ratusburn Coffee Bar.

BEST KNOWN AS THE ADVENTURE CAPITAL OF NEW ZEALAND

Queenstown is known as the Adventure Capital of New Zealand, with so many must do experiences. For the best view in Queenstown we recommend you ride the Skyline Gondola up to Bob’s Peak to enjoy the panoramic views of the Southern Alps across Lake Wakatipu.
