Asahigaoka Park

From the first week of May (the final week of operation of the ski lifts in Furano) the cherry blossoms reach Furano in their progression north across Japan.

Visit Asahigaoka Park, listed in the ‘Top 100’ sakura viewing locations in Japan thanks to its 3,000+ ‘Yama Sakura’ trees. This is quite a spectacular sight and it’s one that tends to last longer in Furano thanks to the predominant variety of cherry trees that hold onto their spring blossoms for longer. There is a beautiful 5 kms door-to-door walk from our Furano ski accommodation to Asahigaoka Park and back that winds itself through the area.
