Aspen – A Magical Place Like No Other.

Nestled in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado lies Sowmass village and Aspen both with its own unique offerings as your next mountain destination to explore 4 mountains on the 1 lift pass. Our own, Emily Foy, shares her Aspen experience for any Aussie looking for an unforgettable snow holiday.

Australian’s love ski villages which is why most of our travellers choose to stay at Snowmass. The accommodation options here are ski in and ski out from hotels to condos and private residences.

If you are looking for Aspen’s most luxurious address then those who appreciate the finer touches in life choose to stay at The Little Nell. Ski in ski out luxury hotel on Aspen Mountain  with unparalleled location and iconic views of Aspen Mountain.

The best of both worlds would be to do a split stay which we thoroughly enjoyed on one of our trips.

No matter what your reasons for travelling to Snowmass and Aspen every experience will be unique and the experience is guaranteed to change & stay with you for life.

I have been fortunate to travel to Aspen Snowmass and the past 3 trips were all very different.

Aspen Gay Ski Week

From lively apres-ski parties to glamorous evening events, Aspen Gay Ski Week is packed with an exciting lineup of activities that cater to a diverse range of interests. Whether you’re dancing the night away at a themed party, enjoying a cocktail mixer, or attending a drag show, there’s never a dull moment during Gay Ski Week. Such a fun week to be in Aspen.

Aspen X Games

We couldnt make the Winter Olympics as planned so we planned a ski trip to see the Games. At the core of the Aspen X Games are the intense competitions featuring some of the world’s best athletes showcasing their skills in a variety of extreme sports disciplines. From snowboarding and skiing to snowmobiling and freestyle motocross, spectators are treated to jaw-dropping performances and gravity-defying tricks as athletes push the limits of what’s possible on snow and ice. Absolute amazing experience.

Family Snow Holiday

Although a long way to travel with a baby and 3 year old, the ease of flying directly into Aspen airport took some of the pain out of long haul travel. Once we arrived to the sheer beauty of the Rockies and breathed in the mountain air all was forgotten about the long journey.

We took advanatge of the wordclass child minding facilities which included snow play in the toddler room and could enjoy our days on the mountain whilst the children were looked after.

We also enjoyed many experiences that are on offer for families – ice skating, dog sledding, snow mobiling and a stand out was the horse sleigh ride out to Pine Creek cook house for a gorgeous tranquil lunch in the woods.

For my travellers, I always recommend arriving in January to Snowmass and Aspen to take advantage of kids ski free (12 and under) with a rental package, SKI 10 for the price of 7 and SKI 30 for the price of 10 passes. The ski packages are some of the most competitive in the world and for those surpised with the price  (and crowds) of Japan I would always recommend to look at a Colorado comparison before locking down your ski plans.

Next trip?

I would love to stay at the Hotel Jerome to truly immerse myself in Aspen’s rich history and heritage. Also to experience the new Aspen X Beach Club.

The Aspen X Beach Club is a fascinating fusion of two seemingly contrasting environments: the snow-capped mountains of Aspen and the relaxed, coastal ambiance of a beach club. Perfect for an Aussie on a snow holiday!
