Marrakech: A Sunscene Travel Adventure

If you are thinking of going to the Red City of Marrakech, you can’t beat Club Med, being an all-inclusive, village-style resort, nestled in the exclusive palm grove suburb of Palmeraie, 20 minutes north of the city centre. Thanks to its lively atmosphere, amazing facilities, and delicious cuisine, it attracts a whole host of visitors seeking an unforgettable experience.

Our Travel Specialist Narelle spent eight incredible nights with her husband and four daughters at Club Med Marrakech la Palmeraie. While not as easy to get to from Australia as some of the South East Asian Club Meds, it’s certainly worth the travel time. Direct flights from London, Madrid, Paris, Istanbul, Athens, Lisbon and beyond, or a simple connection from places like Dubai and Doha through Casablanca, make it easy to reach Marrakech.

Given that Club Med originated in France and is easily accessible from these locations, it’s no surprise that the majority of the guests were French.

The main resort features Superior and Deluxe rooms spread across four two-story buildings. These buildings are situated around fountains surrounded by olive trees, beautiful hibiscus flowers, and roses. Additionally, there are luxury suites available in the Exclusive Collections space, known as “The Riad.”‘

Influenced by its French origins, the main La Palmeraie restaurant, located on a terrace next to the pool, offers an abundance of crunchy fresh bread, croissants, and pastries. Throughout the day, La Palmeraie maintains its high standards with a diverse buffet featuring plenty of fresh produce and child-friendly options. If you’re looking for a more intimate dining experience, don’t miss The El Kebir specialty restaurant. With its exquisite oriental setting, it offers the opportunity to savour all the flavours and scents of Moroccan cuisine.

As with most other Club Med resorts around the world, there is no shortage of activities. You can spend your days on the golf course, try your hand at archery or trapeze, enjoy a camel ride, burn some calories with aqua aerobics, or perhaps horse riding is more your style! And parents really do get a holiday as well, as the kids are kept busy with endless activities!

Excursions abound, with hot air ballooning being an absolute must-do! Watching the sunrise over the Moroccan landscape is truly breathtaking. For thrill-seekers, don’t miss the opportunity to drive dune buggies across the Agafay Desert. When you feel like shopping, take advantage of the free resort shuttle bus to the Medina. You haven’t truly experienced Marrakech until you’ve gotten lost in the bustling souks.

As with every Club Med, the staff were amazing. With a wonderful mix of nationalities and personalities, their enthusiasm was contagious. And like every other Club Med stay, you arrive as strangers, and leave feeling like family!
