Gail travelled with us on the Ladies Ski Week in 2019 and it was her first time skiing. Nervous and not sure what to expect she came away with a new skill and lifelong friendships and memories…
Gail recounted her journey to me recently:
My first ever ski trip was so exciting travelling with a great bunch of ladies to beautiful Queenstown! Our lovely Snowscene host, Siobhan, made it so easy, all I had to do was relax and enjoy each day! All the planning was taken care of and she was so helpful with local knowledge on where to dine and the best ways to explore Queenstown. The hotel was so central, only a short walk into the centre of Queenstown and super comfortable! The week began with an amazing feast at a local restaurant in Queenstown and I knew I had made the best decision booking this trip. Our knowledgeable local driver drove us safely up to the slopes each day and also helped me with great tips on improving my skiing technique & even ensured my boots were on right! Talk about 5 star service!
Ladies Ski Week was born from wanting to escape the everyday and to enjoy some much needed time away with girlfriends. We had mums, first timer skiers, hard working nurses, solo travellers and ladies who wanted a trip away without their husbands! They get to go on surf trips and fishing trips and golf trips… what’s one week, just for us girls?!
Everyone encouraged each other to get out there and give the more difficult runs ago, we had some great achievements on the trip and made sure each one was celebrated. Our exertion on the ski fields was rewarded with a much needed day at Kinross Winery where our guests could sit back, relax and enjoy their delicious lunch and private wine tasting.
Unlike most ski trips we focus on doing things at a slower pace so you can get the best out of everything. We of course run off a pre-planned schedule however the beauty of this unique ladies tour is that we can change things up if everyone agrees. A drink at Arrowtown Pub after a day of skiing on Coronet? Sure. An earlier start when heading up the mountain to beat the traffic? Let’s do it! You can be as independent as you wish on this tour and your host is there to guide you on the best places to eat and which activities are best for your day off.
Although, due to international border closures our Ladies Ski Week for 2020 had to be postponed we have already seen ladies wanting to book ahead for 2021 and secure a spot on the Snowscene Ladies Ski Week for 2021.
