VAIL: How amazing is this place?
Pristine blue skies. Endless vistas every which way you look. Groomed runs for all levels. This was a perfect destination for a family of 4 with ample to do and see. A week was not long enough to discover and get to know the 3 mountains with their varying terrain. There were runs for all of us and the instructors were incredibly engaged and lovely, ensuring continuity and returning for our girls’ lessons even on their days off. We loved the accommodation Emily sourced for us in Vail – it just felt like home, was a 2 minute walk to the centre, ski school and the Lionshead lift. Plus, there was ample for the kids to do at the end of their ski day. Our trip up the gondola, then in the snowcat to the Game Creek Restaurant was very cool. Well worth it. The food, wine and service was brilliant. Be sure to go for an early sitting – around 5.30-6pm – the sunset from the top of the mountain makes it so worth it!
BRECKENRIDGE: What a hidden gem of a place!
A small country town just a short drive from Vail with down to earth people and brilliant snow!! Powder to our thighs and copious amounts of it every day! One Ski Hill was great accommodation, literally 5 steps from the hotel door to the ski school and lifts at the base of Peak 8. Such friendly, helpful people…..With a cool cinema room you could book free of charge and a bowling alley – also free of charge. The town at the base of the gondola was really nice and easy to navigate. Rich with history and museums to explore if you need a break from the slopes. The skiing and snowboarding was amazing. Lots of challenging, ungroomed runs, brilliant black runs, a separate peak, peak 7, full of intermediate runs, only 1 ski lift ride or 1 gondola ride away. Easy access to the supermarket – the last stop at the base of the free gondola. An utterly relaxing and easy snow holiday.
All 4 of us can’t stop talking about what an amazing time we had. Thank you Em and Hayden for arranging our travel and fitting us out in ski gear. We are so, so pleased to have our next snow trips already arranged by you again.
