Let me take you back in time.
Picture this. It’s 1984 and you’ve booked a fantastic ski tour leaving from Brisbane. Complete with your freshly permed hair, you board the bus at the Brisbane Transit Centre with the rest of your group and your tour guide and you set off for the ski fields. You don’t know what kind of people are going on this epic trip with you but you get to know them really well on the 16 hour long bus trip. It’s like a big party. Until, that is, the tiredness sets in. It’s hard to get comfortable and you can’t get away from that annoying guy in the seat in front who keeps turning around to tell you how great a skier he is. You just want to get there, rest in a nice comfy bed and get ready for the 7 day trip. Except that now it’s only six days and then, oh yeah, there’s another day lost for the trip home – another 16 hours on the bus!
That was the old days when Snowscene was Sno Bus Ski Tours and there were no such things as budget airlines.
Fast forward to 2019 and things have changed. A lot.
Here at Snowscene we’ve been thinking and we’ve come up with an idea. Actually it’s a concept that Siobhan, one of our International Ski Consultants, and I have been talking about. It’s based on the old tour idea but with a bit more comfort and style and a lot less wear and tear travel-wise – a Ladies Ski Week.
Snowscene has run several successful tours to Queenstown, Hakuba and Furano and the concept of a Ladies Ski Week was developed with these in mind. Siobhan will be your expert guide. But as well as skiing, under her guidance you will experience all the other aspects that a holiday to such a remarkable destination like Queenstown will provide. Things like the wine, the cheese, the scenery, the skiing, the night-life. Did I mention the wine?
You could be a single woman wanting to join a group of like-minded skiers, a mum who wants (or needs) a week away with a group of fun women. You could be someone who wants to do something different with their mother and/or grandmother. Maybe your Mother’s Day gift fell a bit short this year and you want to make up for it with this unique trip. Whatever the reason, there are no limits or restrictions on age or ability. If you’re a beginner to intermediate skier you will certainly need lessons but if you’re an advanced skier or rider, your needs will be catered for too. We have women of all abilities already booked on this tour.
The tour starts from $2,899 per person and includes the services of a tour guide (Siobhan), for a week with return direct flights ex Brisbane into Queenstown flying over The Remarkables. But that’s not all. Also included is 4 days skiing, a private wine tour with gourmet lunch and an amazing hot onsen. The Onsen Hot Pools overlook the Shotover River. If you would like to add an independent addition to the tour, you could add a fifth ski day and experience a third ski resort in Queenstown or even organise a helicopter to Milford Sound. The tour also includes 7 nights (twin share) at the Millenium Hotel, a stunning hotel at the top of town with breakfast daily and a welcome dinner. This is a great way to get to know everyone and for the tour guide to talk about the week ahead.
This tour is selling well and we only have 10 spots left. It will be running in September, just before the school holidays which might be a good window for some ladies to have a week to themselves.
